This year marks the 75th anniversary of the tragic battle on December 26, 1944 that took place in the mountain village of Sommocoliona, Barga, Italy. More than a hundred perished, including soldiers, partisans and civilians, when the the village itself was nearly wiped out.

At 9:30 am, the traditional ceremony of laying laurel wreaths at the Monumento Monticino e alla Rocca della Pace will take place. The commemoration will be followed by Holy Mass, closing with ceremonies placing a wreath in front of the War Memorial. A presentation of the soon-to-be-published book Braided in Fire by Solace Wales is included the commemorative events.
